Microsoft Update Hell…..
Did I mention that yesterday I decided to do Microsoft’s Windows Updates to one of my Win2k boxes? The first sign of trouble was when the machine was running really really slow after the first reboot. WTF? So, in my infinate wisdom-dom, I reboot once more to see if that fixes the problem. Lo and behold, it comes up with a “Cannot find…. file” and it wanted the original CD, and to run the repair. Fan-fscking-tastic! So I get out the old Win2k CD, pop it in, and reboot. When it finally gets to the search for the Win2k install, it can’t find it. Again, WTF? Ok, one more time, reboot and this time go to the Admin console. It finds the Win2k directory and asks if I want to use it. WTFH!?!? So I choose the appropriate directory, then procede to run the chkdsk. At 50% through, it says there are unrepairable errors on the drive. Ok, there was absolutly nothing wrong with the drive BEFORE the fscking install! So I run it again….. *sigh* It was at 53% when I left for work…. Bleh! It’s been a long time since a Linux update has blown up on me. So how come M$ can’t get it right? After 30 years in business, you’d think they’d know how their own OS would react to a GD deletion of a directory…… argh! I wish DAoC was available for Linux. I’d use nothing but Linux and say goodbye to Windoze forever….
