World of Warcraft….

Ok, so I broke down and couldn’t resist the 14 day free trial to WoW offered through FilePlanet.com. Unfortunatly, I found out that I will need to buy a box at the store to continue playing after the 2 weeks is up. Like any good dealer, they give you a taste, then stick it to you when you’re hooked. I’m not entirely sure I’ll be able to shell out the $$$ for the box.

So far, game play is pretty much as I expected. It has changed, but not too noticably from the beta 2 and stress tests. It’s a very pretty game, the quests can make you work some, and keep it interesting at low levels at least.

I have run into a problem though. Their “suggested realm” that I made my new character on, and leveled to 8 in a morning session, put in a queue. Not only did it put me in a queue, but the queue kept going up and down, as did the “estimated time.” All I could think of is…. wtf? I wrote them a firm, but polite feedback telling them how I felt about their realm suggestion system. I then proceded to make a new character in a different realm, which is pretty much a carbon copy of my original toon. However, it doesn’t excuse the fact that I went into their “suggested realm,” made a toon, then couldn’t play it because of some stupid queue that was in constant flux. What’s the deal Blizzard? Would it not make sense, with all the stats you have, that it would make sense to build a smart suggestion script that would indeed pick a lower populated server? Here’s another kicker….. Their program, when I was making my second toon, again suggested the maxed out server. Again, I had to say…. WTF? Now that’s really annoying me…. I don’t know if I want to pay for a box and subscription to a game that lets annoyances like this creep in. After all, it’s no fun sitting there at a waiting screen for half an hour, especially when you don’t have that long to wait….. ugh!

Maybe more later….
