WoW is all I can say….

Ok, so just as I was getting into WoW, we go out of town and go see my girlfriends parents for Thanksgiving. Bleh! Oh well…. Anyway, I started out playing a Druid, and armed with the knowledge I had from the Beta, got to level 8 in the first 3 or 4 hours playing. With the amount of running around, unless you’re getting a powerlevel, there doesn’t seem to be much of a fast-track in leveling. You pretty much spend most of your time running around doing quests. Anyway, when we got back, Friday evening, I spent most of the night going through levels 9 to 12 just so I could get my bear form (the second part of the quest is really hard unless you either have a group, or you’re level 12 or higher). For those that don’t play WoW, bear and dire bear form is kind of tank form for Druids. It makes you pretty tough, and you can do some decent damage. After running around a clobbering many a mobs in bear form, I got a little bored and decided to see what Hunters were all about.

I originally chose a Dwarf, but found that having a gun, well, just wasn’t my style. So I tried a Night Elf, and liked it much better. You get a bow, and it seems much faster than the guns used by the Dwarves. Soloing is nice, but true to most archer/ranged classes in other games, Hunters in WoW don’t do a huge amount of close combat damage. Anyway, running the newbie usual quests, and killing a few extra mobs got me to level 10 in about 4 hours total. At level 10, you get to run a quest to get the spell that gives you your pet. It wasn’t near as hellish as the Druid level 10 quest, but it wasn’t without challenge either. I like to dip my hands into every class, so lastnight, I also leveled a Priest to level 10.

Being a healer class, like the Druid, the Priest is almost as needed as a tank in a group. Granted, I love to solo too. I pretty much live to solo, and here’s why. Earlier tonight, my newest toon got invited into a group with a Hunter. Together we did a little ass kicking and we didn’t die at all. The Hunter invites a Warrior and we go on our way to kill stuff. Well, the Hunter all the sudden has to leave. Bleh! The Warrior and I went on, but we ended up fighting things 2 or 3 levels above the Warrior. Normally this would not be a problem, with myself having heals and such, but he just couldn’t do enough damage to keep agro off me. In the end, we both ended up dieing twice before they rebooted the realm (I didn’t mention that there was terrible lag today, did I? A realm is basically just a server/cluster). The second time he died, I was able to resurrect him. Then we took off to safety, and logged out about 4 minutes from reboot. I didn’t get to log back in because of dinner and my girlfriend wanted to watch “War of the Worlds.” Eh, I’ll login tomorrow morning and play some more. Perhaps I’ll play my new Warlock to at least level 10. ;)

Maybe more later….
