My Impression After 3 Weeks of Playing WoW…

Ok, my impressions after playing WoW for a few weeks are fairly positive.

To begin with, I’m staying true to my nature and playing multiple characters at this point. So far I have one level 18, and 2 level 15’s, and a 3 others between 10 and 14. So far, I like playing all of them, although I’ve never realy been a fan of playing pure melee classes, but I’m enjoying it overall.

My highest is the Hunter. I don’t know what it is, but his survivability is just awesome. I’ve been able to take things about 2 to 3 levels higher than me, and not even really break a sweat. Right now my pet is a nightsaber I got out in Darkshore and he’s been leveling with me, but he’s slowly falling further behind. It’ll probably be time to get a new pet shortly. This hunter may be my first level 60 (or 70 with the 1.9 expansion coming out). Did I mention he’s my Leatherworker? Yup! Expert level so far!

I like playing my Warlock, but I think the voidwalker pet is a bit under powered without buffs. Since there really aren’t that many dropped scrolls you can use to click-buff, it’s pretty much something you have to live with. Th imp is great if you’re not expecting to take a hit. I’d imagine a better roll for him is just a damage dealer while the main tank keeps agro. This little guy has very few hitpoints, but his nukes can hit pretty hard. I can’t wait to try the higher level pets. :D

I like my Paladin alright, although she’s pretty much just going to be used for blacksmithing. I’ll get her to artisen level and probably won’t take it much past there. Other than that, it’s nice to have mail armor, buffs and heals. Like with all games thus far, pallies tend not to do so much damage. This is because they’re considered a hybrid class. Similar to true tanks, they can mitigate tons of damage. Personally, I prefer the DAoC pally more though. These just seem to be another healer class.

I love my Druid. He’s got a lot of promise for a hybrid class. In bear form (and later levels direbear form), he can do about 80% the damage that a rogue can do. Not only that, but come out of bear form and throw a few heals out, then go back to pounding the mob into the dirt. There are people who highly misunderstand this class for it is. Yes, they can heal and buff, this is a fact, but they are also capable tanks who can take a few hits before needing a heal. They are also good off-tanks, meaning they can usually tank a mob off a healer.

I like my Mage ok. She’s going to be my Tailor though, so she’ll be in the same boat as the Pally. In playing her, I find that pure damage spells can be fun, but not if they’re resisted. lol! She’s a cloth wearer, and very squishy! A couple of crits from a mob and you’re toast.

I like my Rogue as a damage dealer. I always like playing stealth classes and this is no different. Stealth in this game works funny. Instead of being completely invisible, you’re easily seen if you’re infront of anyone. They really want you to be a sneaky fellow and use your backstab a lot. The druid, in cat form, gets stealth, so maybe when he’s high enough, I won’t need the Rogue. Besides, night elf rogues tend to be frowned on because a lot of gold farmers use them. Overall, it’s a good damage dealer and can usually sneak past the creaps without problems.

I have a Warrior, and he’s ok. He’s going to make me my mechanical squirrel. lol! Anyway, I love his tank abilities, but he really needs a healer behind him, at least at the level he’s at. He can, and has, 2-shot mobs his own level. He’s also going to be my Engineer, so at least leveling him to artisen is a grand possibility.

My Priest. She’s kind of the step-child I never really wanted. lol! I think after playing a pure healer class in DAoC and EQ, I’m burnt out on it. Sure, I’ll level her up some, after all, she’s my Enchanter also. Artisen is a definate must, so eventually I’ll have to bite the bullet and level her up too.

Well, that’s it for now. I’m waiting to fill that last spot with the new race they’re going to put in 1.9. I hope it’s worth it. Blizzard has the Horde class picked out already and designed, but I think Alliance is getting a bit of the shaft on this one. Or maybe they just don’t want the Horde to to reroll Alliance because of this uber class. lol! I think it’s more of a fact that they just don’t know. I’ll be watching the forums for more on this as it unfolds.

Maybe more later…
