Sometimes you just have to ask yourself, “why me?” Hence was the question I asked this exact same question this evening as I was hastely woken up by my girlfriend. She, and a friend of hers, took both our puppy and her friends go for a walk. At some point near the end of the walk, our puppy became unsteady and started tripping over herself. At first we thought it might be bloodsugar, so we fed her. 30 minutes later, nothing had changed.
I cancelled all 3 DAoC accounts yesterday, and I most likely won’t be back anytime soon. Not that I’m mad, or anything, but most of friends that did play have all gone. Besides that, both my houses got repoed and I’m not paying for another 2 story house that costs 10 plat base, then everything else is extra. Nope! Not gonna happen for a game I just don’t play anymore.
Yeah, yeah…. I got to looking at things left unfinished and decided to give EQ one more shot. Well, at least a half-assed shot anyway. I’m still going to play WoW for the enjoyment factor of being able to solo yellows/oranges. For grouping goodness, I’ll head to EQ. Of course, I logged in to EQ for the first time in I don’t when, and here’s what happened….
More than a couple of years ago I helped beta test a new game that was coming out from Lucasarts(tm) and SOE called “Star Wars Galaxies.” Granted, the testing was late in the processes and basically the finished product, going gold about three weeks later.
When I first connected and got into the tutorial, I noticed that the interface was extremely awkward. Options were buried deep in submenus, and things were rather complicated. I figured there would people who would like it and hate it. I already had my hands full with DAoC and EQ that I really didn’t get too much into it. I did see potential though, and thought maybe sometime down the road, I would buy it and play it.
I’m at a crossroads right now. My Hunter is now level 36, more than half way to end-game and inevitable boredom. Boredom, at least, until the next expansion.
