So what’s a guy to do?
So now, as I type this, I own exactly 1/2 of a laptop. That’s right, we went in halvesees on a brand-spankin-new HP laptop. First thing I did when I got it home was to see how many open wi-fi networks were around me. lol! There are exactly 2 open, and 2 secured. Yeah, I’ll admit, I used an open network for a couple of things, but it’s pretty much been used productively by my girlfriend. She’s done homework on it. I do plan on doing my development stuff, and play my games on it after I upgrade the memory to a smooth 1GB, well, until I get my own. I’m just a selfish bastard when it comes to my computers, so I want my own. 
Anyway, both EQ and WoW play on it. If you must know, it’s an HP ze2000 model serires we got for cheap at circuit city. It has a Sempron 3000+, 512MB RAM, 60GB HDD, a dual-layer DVD-/+RW CD-RW combo drive, and a nice and bright 15′ screen. I give it 4 out of 5 stars, because of the shared system/video memoery. Heh, we already prefer to watch movies on it in the bedroom, compare to my 13′ TV that’s in there. lol! Go figure!
My latest adventure has been to setup a wi-fi of our own. I plopped down a couple of $25 giftcards, and fronted the rest for a wi-fi router. The damn thing works, but not very well. What can you expect from an off brand though? Come to find out I mistook the speed technology boost in our laptop to be compatable with the one on the new router. Boy was I fooled. Ain’t it just grand? Anyway, I will probably box it up in the morning and take it back for one that’ll actually give us some sort of extra benefit, not to mention it’ll be about $10 cheaper. At that point, I’ll probably just migrate the entire network to the new router and put the old wired one up for safe keeping.
Can’t wait to get my memory upgrade, then I can play my games anywhere I can get a stable wi-fi connection. 
Maybe when I get my own laptop, I’ll be able to afford an alienware one…. hmmmm…. That would be sweet!
