Fun with Scripting…
I’ve been around the net a time or two, that’s not something I’m gonna hide. Heh, my first website was on geocities and consisted of html I coded myself in DOS edit and pictures I swiped from clipart collections and cleaned up in .7 of Paint Shop Pro. There were no formating sins, and no dynamic this or AJAX that. The only server side scripting was done in perl, and WISE and ARCHE were still viable content vehicles.
My how times change. I’m pretty proficeint in PHP and SQL, and now I’m incorporating JavaScript into my skills set. I’m sure many of you have seen some of the great things you do with AJAX, and eventually I plan to jump on the bandwagon too. I think any future projects I create or help with would benefit from my knowing JavaScript and AJAX, at least for web applications.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m still going to finish my education in Java. It’s a must if I plan on becoming something more in IT than just another operator. But to be able to create large scale applications for the web is impressive, and would probably work to my advantage some day.
Anyway, you can expect this site to be a kind of play toy for me. I’ll be playing with different aspects of JavaScript and AJAX techniques. Maybe one day this site actually be worth reading in a friendly and easy way, not to mention some decent content. I know, I know, I’ve been short on good content lately. I’ve been busy playing EQ and WoW, tending to a girlfriend and a dog that’s been sick off and on, adn finally going out and shows and whatnot. This doesn’t mention the things I’ve been doing to further my skillz set and job, reading, coding, and sucking up to the boss. 
I should go…. Maybe more later…
