Net Neutrality and you….

The Register has a story about Net Neutrality. Actually, it’s a piece that pokes fun at a stupid little cartoon made specifically to confuse people on what Net Neutrality really means.

Note: I’m not directly linking to the cartoon because I don’t want to send them direct traffic. A link is included in the referenced story.

Net Neutrality is a philosophy that revolves around an open and free Internet. It is basically an unspoken rule saying that all providers will allow all Internet traffic to flow through their system unhindered. Ma Bell would like to change this. Not only do they want to charge their customers for the bandwidth they use, but they would also love to charge content providers (Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, Joe’s blog and video) for the same bandwidth. This is what I call “double dipping.”

A dark day for DAoC fans…..

On June 20th, EA and Mythic Entertainment, Inc. announced that EA will acquire Mythic. A new EA Mythic will be formed.

Need I remind anyone of what they’ve done to all prior MMORPG’s? They killed them dead, dead, dead…. Yes, I mourn the loss of a good game, with many decent qualities, and well as it’s flaws. I expect that in the next two or three years, DAoC will be a ghost town, and Warhammer will either be half the game it was supposed to be, or never be released.

Putting the RPG in MMORPG…

By way of Digg, I found an editorial called “Where’s the RPG in MMORPG?” and it got me thinking. For starters, I never was into the pen and paper RPG’s because I had a bad experience, which left a bad taste in my mouth. I played a few of the old D&D computer games back in the day. As the original article goes, I have to agree with it. The depth of the story line and immersion of each person is what makes a good RPG. So how are we to go about puting the “RPG” into MMORPG?

I’m baaaaack….

Sometimes, being lazy doesn’t pay. Yeah, yeah, I know. I forgot to pay the domain bills and it expired on me. Lucky me that eNom kind of sets it aside and let’s you renew it within a week. Unfortunatly, it meant this blog was offline for a couple of days. Not really anything major, but I’m sure any regular visitors we disappointed. (Hey! I can wish!)

Anyway, there’ve been some interesting developments I will share when I get a chance sometime during my weekend. For now, I gotta go!

Maybe more later….
