A dark day for DAoC fans…..
On June 20th, EA and Mythic Entertainment, Inc. announced that EA will acquire Mythic. A new EA Mythic will be formed.
Need I remind anyone of what they’ve done to all prior MMORPG’s? They killed them dead, dead, dead…. Yes, I mourn the loss of a good game, with many decent qualities, and well as it’s flaws. I expect that in the next two or three years, DAoC will be a ghost town, and Warhammer will either be half the game it was supposed to be, or never be released.
I hate EA with a passion. Actually, I believe “hate” isn’t a strong enough word for how I feel about them. How would I describe it? I hate EA with the intensity of a thousand suns. Both EA and SOE have killed far more games than they deserved to ever come in contact with. I believe the only thing keeping EA afloat are their console games, and possibly Pogo.
It’s no secret that EA has pretty much been kicking their dead horses of John Madden, NFL, and other sports console games for a long time, and this has been their life line. Now, they will have our beloved DAoC in their dirt little hands. We can probably expect very little good from EA Mythic. Sure, the merger was signed because EA agreed to allow the founders to stay on. It always happens like this. Eventually, the former executives will get tired of the BS, and leave the company to pursue other things. Rarely will the parent company spin them back off to their original state.
Did I mention I hate EA? Time to go take a cold shower…. Maybe more later….
