Apple, how do you play that sweet movie?
OK, no big shock. Everyone knew what Apple had up it’s sleeve with movies being sold through iTunes. It also wasn’t a huge shock that they’d be priced at $9.99USD for “library” movies and $14.99USD for new releases. All this has been in the rumor mills for a while now.
Now, let’s get to the upgraded iPods.
First we have the new iPod nanos. These things are pretty slick with new anodized aluminumn cases, and a brighter screen. They also come in several flavors. The “cheap” on is $149USD, 2GB of storage, and comes in silver. The next one up sells for $199USD, has 4GB of storage, and comes in silver, green, blue, and pink. The $249 iPod nano comes in black, with 8GB of storage. They look cool, and as always, I’m sure they sound awesome.
Next we have the new video iPods, dubbed 5.1G. They have a brighter screen and extend the battery life beyond thos of the current 5th generation (5G) iPods. From what I’ve understood from various sources, is that all the new software features are available for use with the regular 5G iPods. This is music to my eyes. lol! After all, I bought one last month. Anyway, there are new games available to iPod 5G owners. These include Pac-Man, Mahjong, and Tetris, among others. Apple chose to replace the 60GB video iPod with an 80GB, for those that want to store the new movies on their iPods. The price is a bit sweeter too! They knocked $50 off! It’s now $249USD for the 30GB and $349USD for the 80GB. Man, if only I’d waited. I would’ve spent the extra $50 for the 80GB in a heartbeat! Oh well, maybe I’ll get a 6G next year.
Last, but not least, there’s a new iPod shuffle on the block. It’s tiny!!! I mean, really tiny! It’s still got 1GB of storage, but it’s much smaller than the first generation shuffle. Get this! They included a clip on the back. lol! This thing has to weight practically nothing too. The only downside to it is the storage though. I mean, 1GB doesn’t go very far, ya know?
Now, I want to know about these new ear buds they have out. Ear buds have never been comfortable for me, and I’m afraid it would cost a bit more than I’m willing to spend on ones that are. I’ve never had good luck with ear phones anyway. They always break. The wires come loose at either end, and I always end up buying new ones. Go figure….
Mmmm…. Now, the sweet and chewy center! Let’s talk about the set-top box code-named: iTV. It’s a wireless networked box that allows you to stream movies, video podcasts, and other content from your iTunes running on your computer. It’s in prototype stage right now, but it looks pretty sweet at this point. I, as well as others, wonder if there might be an Apple answer to the DVR set-top boxes that we see now, in the near future? Time will only tell, but Steve Jobs also said it was slaighted for release in Q1 of 2007.
OMG, I should be ashamed of myself…. I sound like and Apple fanboi now…. For shame ,for shame…. I guess I’m off to flog myself…. Maybe more later…
